Hi There!

Leanne Thiessen is a Métis Canadian Illustrator living on a 7 acre homestead in the Manitoba prairies, where she spends much of her time raising her family, tending to the gardens, growing flowers, and baking sourdough. A mother of four children, her illustrations are often created with Littles running around or drawing right beside her. Her passion for art stems from a very young age, a childhood filled with camping, canoeing, loving and respecting the outdoors – where she draws much of her inspiration from.  Her illustrations aim to amplify the beauty in things with simplicity, and often have a nostalgic, whimsical edge.

Leanne successfully owned an art + stationery company, Paper Canoe, for almost 8 years, where her nature-inspired, eco-friendly paper line (including greeting cards, note cards, journals, art prints, and more) was shipped worldwide through her online shops, fabric designs used by many Makers in North America and abroad, and artwork licensed to companies such as Colibri Canada and Papyrus. Her line of illustrated cards were most recently distributed by Paper E Clips, and sold in retail shops across North America. Leanne closed Paper Canoe in the summer of 2022, so she could focus more on freelance illustration and Children's Books.
